THE MORRELLY HOMELAND SECURITY CENTER
LIFT, The Applied Science Foundation for Homeland Security and the Resident Research Partners of The Morrelly Homeland Security Center are in the process of creating a nationally recognized Center of Innovation and Excellence for applied science, focused on the convergence of technology on the Homeland Security market. The purpose of this center is to focus and accelerate the transfer of technology and ideas into market driven products and systems to solve key problems in protecting our society against terrorist events and disasters, while creating jobs in New York State.
Create an environment for innovation by facilitating the convergence of research and technology in the public and private sectors of New York State on the issues facing the Country and the State in the Homeland Security area. This is being accomplished by establishing an industry-led Center of Innovation and Excellence, which will function as both a central node of the innovation network and as a virtual location for linking research development and testing assets with both users and enabling organizations / institutions.
The Morrelly Homeland Security Center is being used to bridge the gap between the results of scientific and technological developments of new methods, processes and devices that have been developed, evaluated and tested at the laboratory level, and their deployment as integrated security solution sets for use in protecting assets against a terrorist threat. This Center has the added benefit of linking and applying basic research to Healthcare and Medical Device solutions, which are directly related to Homeland Security issues / events (i.e. detecting bio-pathogens, improving triage or remediating a terrorist event).
