APPLIED SCIENCE CENTER OF INNOVATION AND EXCELLENCE IN HOMELAND SECURITY

Vision

To create a Nationally recognized Center of Innovation and Excellence for applied science, focused on the convergence of the State's technology on the Homeland Security market. The purpose of this center is to focus and accelerate the transfer of technology and ideas into market driven products and systems to solve key problems in protecting our society against a terrorist event while creating jobs in New York State.

Mission

Create an environment for innovation by facilitating the convergence of research and technology in the public and private sectors of New York State on the issues facing the Country and the State in the Homeland Security area. This will be accomplished by establishing an industry led Center of Innovation and Excellence, which will function as both a central node of the innovation network and as a virtual location for linking research development and testing assets with both users and enabling organizations / institutions.

The Center will be used to bridge the gap between the results of scientific and technological developments of new methods, processes and devices that have been developed, evaluated and tested at the laboratory level, and their deployment as integrated security solution sets for use in protecting assets against a terrorist threat. This Center will have the added benefit of linking and applying basic research to Healthcare and Medical Device solutions, which are directly related to Homeland Security issues / events (i.e. detecting bio-pathogens, improving triage or remediating a terrorist event).
