Course: TS1 Training Provider: NYU-Poly Curriculum: Mastering Creativity and Innovation Location: NYU-Poly Melville Campus - Graduate Center Duration: 4 sessions; May 14, 15, 21, 22 (newly revised) Time: 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Description: Examines the key managerial features of technology-enabled innovation and new product development. This course focuses on accessing innovative capabilities via R&D, acquisition, alliances, joint ventures and innovation-friendly cultures and organizations. The key perspective underlying this course is managerial. Although the innovation activities studied are overwhelmingly technology-enabled ones, success is largely determined by managerial factors. The inter-play between the technology and management leading to innovation in a major concern of the discussion and work comprising this course.

Course: TS2 Training Provider: Farmingdale State College Curriculum: Critical Thinking Location: Roosevelt Hall, Room 111 Duration: 3 sessions; April 3, April 24, May 8 Time: 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon Description: In this course participants will learn to use reasoning and logic skills to think creatively in problem-solving, while influencing and persuading others to think clearly and use language and logic effectively. The fundamentals of problem solving will be reviewed. Knowledge of the methods of logical inquiry and reasoning will be covered. Participants will become familiar with different styles of thinking, and become skilled in building successful teams and develop reasoning and logic skills while thinking problem solving.

Course: TS3 Training Provider: Farmingdale State College Curriculum: Work Ethics Location: Gleeson Hall, Room 229 Duration: 2 sessions; May 8, May 15 Time: 12:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Description: In this course the concentration is on traditional, ethical theories and exploration and clarification of values through reading of critical works. Students will actively engage in philosophical dialogue by critically discussing and evaluating philosophical ethical arguments and will then be able to practice ethical behavior. Today's workforce is a demanding place which requires workers to demonstrate a high degree of knowledge, skill and positive attitude in order to be responsible and productive employees. This course helps the student develop interpersonal skills needed to excel in today's workplace.

Course: TS4 Training Provider: Farmingdale State College Curriculum: Self Direction Location: Gleeson Hall, Room 229 Duration: 2 sessions; May 8, May 15 Time: 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon Description: This course, through inspirational lecture and coaching, will instruct individuals how to overcome deficiencies and resistance from others to new ideas. Students will learn to help themselves and each other to achieve increased effectiveness in their jobs. Self-directed training will include self initiated learning and effective decision making. Learners will select and carry out their own learning goals, objectives, methods, and means to verify whether the goals are met. In today's job market companies expect employees to change, grow, assess new developments (and needs for learning), determine how to gain the needed information and skills to make necessary adjustments, and face new challenges. Course: IS6 Training Provider: Farmingdale State College Curriculum: Lab Test Technician Location: Hale Hall, Room 147 Duration: 6 sessions; April 17, 24, May 1, 8, 15, 22 (newly revised) Time: 7:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Description: This course will provide students with the basic fundamental skills and knowledge needed to obtain a position as a laboratory technician through this 24 hour course. The scope this course will focus on is the basic skill sets required for an entry level laboratory technician. The program will teach and instruct the students in the core requirements to gain consideration for these lab jobs. The duties and tasks need to perform basic laboratory work functions will be taught. These job duties and tasks are described in the sections below. Each session will cover both theoretical and practical applications of the topics presented. Reading and homework assignments are used to reinforce the course curriculum. Students will be testing on materials and mastery of course instruction will be measured. A certificate will be issued at the end of the program.
